Hammering away at my next novel, there’s been some movement on the hobby desk too: a Norse-flavored warband composed of some of the excellent figures from Bronze Age Miniatures.
Clean crisp metal casts, something about them spoke to me* and they jumped the queue as soon as they arrived in the post. Fast-n-dirty pjs, but they have loads of character and I’m pleased with how they turned out.

Sigrid’s Seven will be clearing a path through a ravaged city deep behind enemy lines in a desperate attempt to turn the tide of a bitter and bloody war.

Also found a used ‘Rage Troll’ on eBay. A plastic fig that had been heavily spray-primed bright blue, (why?) I managed to get him presentable. Now, he can join the ranks of ‘large wandering monsters’ for those random encounters and POI hostiles.
Next up are some cleaner shots of recent figs: a pair of Reaper Bones Barbarians with head swaps; a pair of Privateer press Dark Elf-types; a Paladin and a Cleric at an ancient shrine; and an unlikely duo facing down a pack of undead wolves. Again, not trying to win any awards with my brushwork. Color in the lines and get them table ready. That’s the goal.

A Gnome sorcerer and a Human Alchemist walk into a ruined hamlet…
Both of the Nightwatch rule sets have an Alchemist character class. They’re very useful when run as part of a balanced party. I’ve had a hard time finding suitable minis. I know there are a few, but I was particularly happy to find this one. Female, steampunk-ish, and metal. IIRC, she was a Guildball fig.
Superior Explosive Grenadoes and Healing Mist potions… two great things that go great together.
Next up are a pair of Privateer Press Druids. Metal figs from the old Hordes – Circle of Orboros faction. One seen with a trio of Malifaux minis. The other with a staff and sock puppet, facing down that pesky undead dire wolf.

Age of Sigmar/Old World/Warhammer Fantasy… or whatever GW marketing is calling it now, I threw some color on a Stormcast wizard for a friend’s youngest son. Keenly interested in models, he and his older siblings have gamed with their dad at my shop. Here he is with that rage troll.

Last up are two shots of a WIP. More RPG sessions across all three game groups here means less full-table set ups and more, small, encounter boards. 2 x 2 with fixed terrain, I can plunk them down on the table as needed. Already have a generic Crypt. Spooky Graveyard is getting done.

Left established the basic layout. Right has scenic elements in place with a bit of color. Phase One flocking is next. Once it’s complete, I’ll move on to the usual suspects: ghosts, ghasts, and wraiths.
Thick walls in the Crypt means I can stack the Graveyard on top for a split-level adventure: clear the cemetery then descend into the tomb. That’s the idea, anyway.

That’s all for now. The next episode of our Symbaroum campaign is coming this weekend. Than there’s Sigurd’s Seven and a good chance of more Bolt Action too.
Until next time. Have an excellent day. Good hunting.
