Demo set – Part 1

Posted previously about the opportunity to run an “after-school enrichment class” on table top gaming. I’m scheduled to make a presentation and run a demo for interested students in early December, so that’s very cool. Figured I’d run a straight up Bug Hunt for the demo game. Here are some shots of the first phase of the Demo Set. Reaper Chronoscope Bones marines, a GW pilot from the BfM set to act as the Scientist, and a Mantic Games piloted armored suit for Heavy Support. All from eBay.

Made the mistake of spray priming the Chronoscope Bones figs. Lost some detail but they’re OK for demo purposes and rough handling.

Terrain so far. Some bought at clearance, some scratch built, some combo. The Heroquest hive thing was only $8.

Xenos forces coming next. Slow but sure and on a budget. Wish me luck.

  1. That hive terrain piece is a steal at $8. I know that I would have flipped out if someone had shown up with a game like that ready to play when I was a kid. That its actually part of extra-curricular enrichment studies is amazing.

As an FYI, the Mantic “Strider” suit shown is the version from their future sport DreadBall game. The version that is supplied for their Deadzone/Warpath ranges is actually substantially larger.

Not that it matters, but just in the interest of sharing the info 🙂

  2. The DZ Strider is really larger? Thanks for that. I’ll look for one.

Yes, that Hive makes a great ‘Nid/Bug piece. I want to finish the terrain shown, then make up a couple more – at least one more building and a Hive Hole/Tunnel Entrance to use as a spawning point.

In light of NaNoWriMo, I’m spending chunks of November working on one of my novels, but I should be able to finish the Bug force this week. Pics soon.

Glad you like it so far. Thanks again for the info and commenting.

    1. Id get you a comparison shot of the Strider (Deadzone) vs the Big Mech (DreadBall) if the man-cave wasnt in turmoil at the moment. Suffice it to say that the Strider is significantly larger.

      1. No worries. Thanks for the thought. Already scoped one on eBay. In the cart as we speak.
