Moving into Summer, the CCWC has been plotting how to navigate busy work schedules and family obligations, and balance longer RPG campaign sessions with short, fast-play battles for those who simply won’t have a lot of spare time but still want to chuck dice on the game table.

The tentative plan is to introduce both Bolt Action 3E and Battletech Alpha Strike into monthly, week-night events for short, sharp brawls, (because who doesn’t like rifle squads and big stompy robots?) as well as launch into an in-depth Symbaroum campaign in Saturday sessions.
On top of that, we have a large Zona Alfa – Kontraband game scheduled for July that promises to be a dangerous, anomaly-filled event. (We’ve been eyeing Micro Art Studio’s new Ostfront buildings for that full-flavored Eastern European setting.) If half the plans work out, it’ll be a good few months in the old workshop.
Still tightening the bolts on Bolt Action 3E
Speaking of week night gaming, John S. and I ran another Bolt Action 3E demonstration game for several new players this past Monday evening. No specific time period or TOE, just Americans v. Germans in Anyville, Western Europe.

Six turns, we fought to a draw over a cache of supplies that some careless quartermaster left in the crossroads of a small hamlet. My Veteran Grenadiers were grateful for STG44s, and once again, the Sd.Kfz 250/9 punched well above its weight. (It was finally taken out by the US bazooka team)

The American mortar team’s only accomplishment was to keep my Germans on the move. We are seriously considering implementing the Drift Rule from my games (and many others) to make mortars at least somewhat effective. Perhaps we’ll add it to next month’s Monday Night game.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep…
Davokar, that is – The massive, ancient forest covering the ruins of the kingdom of Symbar.
I’ve gushed too much over Free League’s dark fantasy RPG, Symbaroum here at S7. It is my favorite system and setting by far. In fact, if I lived near the Free League offices, they’d probably end up taking out a restraining order, I’d be hanging out there so often. Suffice it to say, both the CCWC and the Sturgis crew will be setting foot in Ambria soon. I’m finishing up the new Steamforged sets. In the meantime, here are the miniatures for the Pre-Gen character options for the new players.

A Queen’s Ranger. An aspiring Ordo pyromancer. A Barbarian with a Big Axe. An impoverished Knight. A Thief with a thing for throwing knives. All Reaper Miniatures metal figs. The knife-throwing rogue was a miserable cast; off-set mold lines, ruined face. I had to snip the head and replace it with a turbaned Victrix Arabian noggin. Their stat sheets and starting abilities are ready. I’m looking forward to more journeys into Davokar.
And Coming Very Soon
The Exploit Zero Omnibus.
An updated edition with new illustrations from Ukrainian artist Andrew Dodor, it has modifications for adding RPG-lite narratives, options for ‘shadowy’ fantasy races, and more.
Open World – Miniature Agnostic – Solo or Cooperative – Designed for 15mm – 28mm miniatures, the Exploit Zero Omnibus is accessible, versatile, and made to help players get miniatures on the table and into combat quickly, easily, and affordably.

That’s all for now. Thanks for stopping by. Have an excellent day.
