Easing into the New Year

Getting past the ‘holiday hangover’ and easing into 2026, things in the CCWC game shed have been quiet but steady.

Four silhouetted figures in cloaks stand in a misty forest, holding weapons, with ethereal light filtering through the trees.

SYMBAROUM

Both the CCWC regulars and the Sturgis crew are still adventuring in Ambria, heading toward the mighty forest of Davokar, each party on their own path, prompted by their own reasons and agendas.
The field academics of the CCWC are currently in Yndaros, investigating the theft of an Expedition License on behalf of their would-be patron, Duke Sesario. Last session saw them battling thugs near the entrance to an underground excavation site in Old Kadizar.
Meanwhile, the Sturgis group’s motley mercenaries are in possession of a mysterious Symbar artifact – a stone key – that everybody they meet seems ready, willing, and eager to kill over. So far, they’ve kept their heads – literally and figuratively – but decided to go north and put some distance between themselves and all the bloody-minded competitors.
All that translates to conspiracy, treachery, and a fair amount of sword play/spell-slinging – whether it’s in a seedy tavern or a darkened side street. Both groups seem to be enjoying themselves, trying to stay alive long enough to unravel the grubby particulars of their respective mysteries.
More on these stories as events unfold.

UPDATE: SCRAPJACKS

A close-up view of a black Microsoft keyboard with a worn-out wrist rest, positioned on a wooden desk alongside a yellow gaming mouse and a black mouse pad.

Finished the complete 2nd draft of the core rule book the other day, a hair under 30K words, then said ‘farewell’ to my battered Microsoft ergonomic keyboard. *Moment of silence, please.
Many years and many thousands of words, letters had worn off, keys were sticking or non-responsive. It was a good day and a sad day. It was just a thing, I know, but I actually miss it. My fingers still aren’t used to the replacement keyboard.
However, I received the first batch of illustrations. See the preview below of the Torch and an Infected Crew Member. CRB line edit and layout begins next month.

A character in a sci-fi setting, wearing a space suit and gripping a weapon, ready for action.
A fierce character with robotic limbs, holding a weapon and yelling passionately, depicted in a stylized black-and-white illustration.

    Farewell….

I was at a convention over the weekend and picked up the cutest little bots that I’ll use in Scrapjacks. Getting psyched for sure.

    Those pics look great.

  2. You got your money’s worth out of that keyboard!
