Chechen Wars 28mm Kickstarter

Kickstarter…

Yeah I know. Great idea – not always the best experience. Incessant delays, poor communications, long-winded excuses, sub- par products, partial fulfillment… I’m 50/50 Good to Bad projects over the past five years. And lately, I’ve given up altogether. It’s just not worth the hassle. Sure, nice figs/game/terrain but I’ll wait until they’re available at regular retail.

But…

I relented for this one:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1026360580/28mm-chechen-wars-miniatures

Three Reasons Why:

Igor Karpov: sculptor behind Lead Adventure’s Post Apocalyptic, VSF, and Bruegelburg range. Nice, chunky figs, detailed without being fussy, bucket loads of character.

Jan 2018 Delivery: The figs are made, reputable company, the caster is lined up, everything’s ready to go. No ’12 to 18 month’ estimated delivery.

Russians with Guns: Blame STALKER. I have a vodka-soaked soft spot for Russian-flavored settings and while these are billed for Chechen War, they’re perfect for any near-future/post-apocalyptic skirmish games. (like STALKER, right?)

The figs are good. (metal too) Price is reasonable. Delivery time acceptable. Go have a look and see if you couldn’t find a spot for some of these.

Oh and check out the Stretch Goals. ( I pledged ‘All In’. Look at that Ruined Warehouse)

Have a great day.

Kickstarter: Peacekeepers

UPDATE NOV. 15, 2016: The KS campaign was cancelled.

Personally, I think it might have hit the minimum funding goal, but apparently the creators didn’t feel the game was gaining the traction it needed to become everything they’d hoped for. Supposedly, they will try again in the near future.  I hope so. Great premise, great figs.

Kickstarter Burn is a thing – I know. I’ve jumped into several I wish I hadn’t and relearned the old Caveat Emptor rule. Even though I’ve become far more discriminating in my choices these days, I keep an eye out for worthwhile projects. This one Peacekeepers got my attention. Very intriguing premise for a strategy wargame, plus great looking mechs, I decided to pledge.

It’s not yet funded, but as of this post there’s still plenty of time. I know I’m taking a chance with my money as well as passing on the info to you folks – I’d hate for this to disappoint in anyway – but from what I can tell, it seems like a solid bet. Watch the intro video at the KS page and decide for yourself. I think it’s a very engaging concept that could make a unique and challenging game. Plus look at those big stompy robots, will ya?

Take Care and Have a good weekend.

KS: Star Troopers

A “For What it’s Worth” post.

Kickstarter-burn notwithstanding,  I’m pleased I backed the S.T.A.R. Troopers project by RBJ Game Company. Generic SF figs, metal cast (not plastic or resin or restic) Bobby Jackson sculpts, fulfillment this year, reputable company… their cool, almost retro aesthetic and low price point gave me confidence to pledge after swearing ‘Never Again’. (Rocket Games/ Last Saga, mutter, mutter, mutter)

Anyway, they are already funded. Pop over to Kickstarter and take a look. YMMV, but I can see lots of uses for these in my hobby world. I’m looking forward to receiving mine.

Pix of my LPL Entry 2 coming up. Have a good day.

Cautiously Optimistic

I’m always down for some good cyberpunk. Always.

Stumbled across ‘Human Interface. Nakamura Tower’ recently. Projected miniatures boardgame in c-punk setting. Looks extremely cool, art; setting, concept, renders for miniatures. But… in the era of Kickstarter fraudsters,  burnout, and vaporware,  I’m not forking over my credit chip or New Kong bucks until I see actual product.

Here’s hoping tho.
